Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup butter, softened
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¾ cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  2. Add softened butter, brown sugar, and white sugar to a bowl.
  3. Beat until the mixture becomes smooth and creamy.
  4. Add the egg and vanilla extract.
  5. Mix until well combined.
  6. In another bowl, mix flour, baking soda, and salt.
  7. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture.
  8. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  9. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  10. Refrigerate the dough for about 20–30 minutes for thicker cookies.
  11. Scoop small portions onto a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
  12. Leave enough space between each cookie.
  13. Bake for 10–12 minutes.
  14. Remove when the edges are lightly golden but the centers still look slightly soft.
  15. Let them cool on the tray for 5 minutes before transferring them to a cooling rack.

Tip: Don’t overbake them. They will continue cooking slightly after coming out of the oven.
